Annual Charities—Each year Bend Newcomers

We offer several ways to give to these charities
including Gift Basket Raffle sales and 50/50 Raffles at our Luncheons.

Bethlehem InnJoin NCOB’s INNcomparable Cooks! Come meet some new friends and provide healthy meals once every three months to the Bethlehem Inn Homeless Shelter for individuals and families. As a group, NCOB volunteers have fun by shopping, cooking or serving meals and at the same time giving hope by connecting directly with people most in need in our community.

Humane Society of Central Oregon– Each
Wednesday at 12:00 pm NCOB volunteers spend three hours sorting the incoming clothing donations for the resale store. To be a part of this team, contact our Activity Director.

The Great Outdoors

Bicycle RidingMost paths are easy, level riding on paved pathways or roads. In the warmer months we usually bike around Sunriver and most of the ride is easy and level. No matter your skill level, this is a wonderful way to get some exercise, breathe fresh air, and enjoy good company.

Pleasure WalksPlease join us for a leisurely walk around various areas in Bend—such as The Deschutes River Trail, The Old Mill District, Drake Park and Old Bend Historical neighborhoods. (Sometimes, we even see wildlife—American Bald Eagles, Osprey, Owls, Otter, Beaver, Deer and so on—along the Deschutes River Trail.) Then join us afterwards for coffee. We meet in front of Anthony's Restaurant in the Old Mill District on Thursday and Sunday Mornings.

Snowshoe—Central Oregon is so beautiful in the winter. Come experience the serenity and
gracefulness of the scenery by joining us for a snowshoeing trek at one of our several groomed trails. Times and places vary, but are updated throughout the season in the monthly newsletter.

Ladies Golf —Enjoy a round of golf with other members and their guests. Different golf courses may be chosen to introduce golfers to the many possibilities for par around Bend. Fore!

Bocce Ball - Bocce takes place in two teams of players. Each team has four large balls called bocce. A smaller ball called the pallino is the target. This has been a popular way to get out and enjoy the outdoors here in Bend. We play during the warmer months.

Kayaking & SUP—During the summer months there is nothing like getting out on the water at one of our beautiful high lakes. The Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) groups love to explore the waters of Central Oregon when weather permits.

Hiking—Bend is a place where boredom doesn't exist because there is so much to explore. Co-ed hiking is a seasonal activity where we hit the trails around the High Desert. We have witnessed Oregon's varied geology from lava fields to waterfalls and seen all sorts of wildlife on our hikes.

Start Playing Games

Social Outings

BridgeThe Bridge group plays twice a month, the first and third Wednesday. You must sign up in advance. Location may rotate among players’ homes, and you should be willing to take a turn hosting in your home.

Game NightAll NCOB members are invited to play card or board games. We meet at member’s homes to pl ay whatever fun game the Hostess has picked for the evening. Games will be posted ahead of time and are always played with house rules.

Mexican Train—Meets on the fourth Monday
of each month.
No experience required, but laughter is. Enjoy a fun-filled evening of dominos!

Pub Trivia—If you love Jeopardy, then join us for a fun game of trivia at local eateries. We order food then play two rounds. Please bring $5 to play, and the winning team splits the pot! We play both daytime and evening. Meets the 3rd Monday of each month (except on some holidays). Watch the Newsletter for details.

Happy HoursThe Happy Hour group offers an
opportunity to explore wonderful restaurants and bars in the Bend area while meeting new people and building friendships in a relaxed environment. Happy Hour discounts generally apply but may vary with each location. This is a no-host event. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Wine Downs  A play on words referring to the weekend when you want to "wind down." These gatherings are hosted in a member’s home, are fun social events where you can enjoy your favorite drink (either alcohol or non-alcohol), eat wonderful food, and meet and converse with other members. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Ale Trailers—The Ale Trailers meet to explore the many outstanding microbreweries and brewpubs that the Bend area has to offer and to enjoy each others company. Attendance limits change
monthly.
Spouses and significant others are
welcome.

Adventures in Food Group— Do you love an
adventure when you cook? Would you like to learn a new recipe or technique in the kitchen? Then this is the club for you. We meet monthly to explore a new culinary adventure. Spouses and significant others are welcome.

Dutch Lunch—Join us as we meet in various
restaurants around the area for a casual no-host lunch, just for good food and conversation.

Special Events

And even More….

Girls Night Out This seasonal activity is for ladies  only. Events are scheduled several times a year and are held in a variety of venues, usually on a Thursday evening. They are a fun way for members to get to know other members, make new friends, and laugh with friends you already have. Guests are also welcome. Examples of events in the past are Wine Tasting at Flights, Furs, Feathers and Bling Bling; and Dinner and the Theater. Please watch for events in the NCOB Newsletter.

Fashion Show— September is Fashion month with NCOB! Join us as our members model fun fashions from local shops. In addition to some the runway show, you’ll have the opportunity to shop at our fashion-themed silent auction and enjoy a terrific lunch.

Animal Lovers During the Fall and Winter months, the Animal Lovers group meets at local cafes, restaurants, or pubs to share a no-host meal and beverage. At the same time, they bring items to benefit the Humane Society of Deschutes County, or other worthy animal-loving organization.

Paid Classes—NCOB occasionally has classes where members offer to instruct others in a fun and inviting atmosphere. These classes usually include a nominal fee. Please check the Directory to see if there are any classes you would enjoy.

Crafts—From time to time we find a great craft project to share with members. Always fun and creative. If you have a craft you love and want to share, be sure to let us know!

If you have an interest that is not represented here, or the group you like is at capacity,
you can begin a new group  Please contact our activities director, and they will help you get started.
At Newcomers of Bend, we are all about creating social ties with one another and exploring our
passions as we make friends.
