2022-2023 NCOB Charities

Each February the Newcomers Club of Bend membership nominates and votes for two local charities that we will financially support.  The charities must have a 501-c-3 status and not have been our selected charity within the last five years. 

A Wil
dlife Hospital and Conservation Center for Central Oregon

Think Wild seeks to reduce the incidence of conflict between humans and wildlife through prevention education.  When conflicts do occur, Think Wild provides veterinary treatment and care at the wildlife hospital.

Think Wild provides:
• Wildlife Hospital - rescue and rehabilitation of injured/orphaned wildlife
• Wildlife Hotline - answer wildlife-related questions and respond to cases of injured and orphaned wildlife
• Think Wild Education- workshops, events and programming for local schools, businesses, organizations and the public
• Community Outreach- awareness and resources on ways to reduce wildlife conflict
• Conservation Services- supporting beaver on our Oregon High Desert landscape

J Bar J Youth Services

J Bar J Youth Services is a 501 © (3) non-profit corporation founded in 1968 and is currently the largest provider of services to youth and families in Central Oregon through our programs. 

Since 1968, when we have seen an unmet need and youth struggling in Central Oregon, we have added programs to help them. We now have seven separate programs, each providing a spectrum of services, as well as a school offering high school diplomas, GED track, and a vocational center. We are the largest social services organization helping youth in Central Oregon. Central to all of our programs is the idea that our thoughts and beliefs influence our choices, and our choices define our futures. If we can learn recognize unhelpful thoughts and mistaken beliefs, we can choose a brighter future.
